It was wonderful to join Minister Joanne Thompson at the Royal St. John’s Regatta, meet residents and visitors, cheer on the rowers, and help present awards at one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most beloved traditions.

The Regatta is more than a sporting event. It is a celebration of community, history, and the pride that brings generations of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians together year after year. Events like this also play an important role in the tourism economy by attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and showcasing the culture and character that make this province so special.

As Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism, I was especially pleased to see firsthand how events like the Regatta create opportunities for communities while giving visitors an authentic experience of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, rowers, families, and everyone who continues to keep this cherished tradition strong. It was a pleasure to be part of such a memorable day.
