I was honoured to attend Filipino Community Day at Earl Bales Park in Toronto, hosted by the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto and several Filipino community organizations, as a part of the celebration of Philippine Heritage Month. 

The day was a meaningful celebration of culture, history, and community, as we gathered to commemorate 128 years of Philippine independence and recognize the enduring contributions of the Filipino community in Canada. 

The event began with a Parade of Colors, followed by a program featuring the national anthems, a wreath-laying ceremony, and remarks from the Consul General of the Philippines to Canada. I was pleased to take part in the parade and to deliver remarks highlighting the importance of cultural heritage, community connection, and the many ways Filipino Canadians continue to enrich every aspect of life in Canada. 

It was also a pleasure to join fellow elected representatives, including MP Vince Gasparro and MPP Michael Kerzner, in celebrating alongside the community and recognizing the significance of this important occasion. Events like this reflect the strength of collaboration across all levels of government in supporting and uplifting diverse communities. 
 
I want to sincerely thank the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who attended to make this event such a success. Your dedication ensures that Filipino culture continues to thrive and be celebrated across generations.
