This summer, I had the opportunity to visit 21 organizations across Mississauga—Streetsville participating in the Canada Summer Jobs program and meet many of the young people gaining valuable experience right here in our community.

One of those visits was to Help A Girl Out (HAGO), where I met with their Canada Summer Jobs students and learned more about the work they are doing to support women and girls. It was inspiring to hear directly from young people about the skills they are developing, the responsibilities they are taking on, and how these opportunities are helping them prepare for what comes next.

Canada Summer Jobs helps local businesses, non-profits, and community organizations create meaningful employment opportunities for young Canadians. These jobs are about more than a summer paycheque - they give young people the chance to gain hands-on experience, build confidence, develop professional networks, and discover new career paths while contributing to their communities.

Visiting organizations throughout the summer gave me the opportunity to see that impact firsthand. Thank you to HAGO and all of the employers across Mississauga—Streetsville who welcomed me, and especially to the students who took the time to share their experiences, ambitions, and ideas for the future.
