Growing Canada’s Visitor Economy
At the Canadian Meetings + Events Expo, I had the opportunity to join tourism and business leaders from across the country to discuss the opportunities ahead for Canada’s visitor economy and what it will take to compete on the global stage.
From attracting major international conventions and business events to showcasing Canada as a world-class destination, tourism supports local businesses, creates jobs, and brings new investment into communities across the country. These conversations were an important opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders about the challenges they are facing and the opportunities they see for growth.
As Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism, I am focused on supporting the businesses, workers, and communities that make Canada such a strong and welcoming destination. By strengthening Canada’s competitiveness and helping our tourism sector reach new markets, we can create more opportunities for communities from coast to coast to coast.
Thank you to Minto Schneider, Bradley Sutherland, Joe Glionna, and everyone at the Canadian Meetings + Events Expo for bringing industry leaders together and for sharing your ideas and perspectives on the future of Canadian tourism.
