Helping Businesses Grow Through Trade and Tourism
At the TradeTO Trade Diversification Summit in Toronto, I was pleased to announce federal investments supporting the City of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University as they help local businesses prepare for the opportunities surrounding FIFA World Cup 2026 and expand into global markets.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and events like FIFA World Cup 2026 offer an important opportunity to showcase Canadian talent, products, services, and innovation to the world. By supporting export readiness, entrepreneurship, and tourism growth, we are helping businesses reach new customers, create jobs, and build long-term success.
As Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism, I know how important it is to ensure entrepreneurs have the tools, partnerships, and support they need to grow beyond local markets. These investments will help strengthen Toronto’s position as a global business and tourism destination while creating new opportunities for businesses across the region.
Thank you to Mayor Olivia Chow, Secretary of State Adam van Koeverden, President Mohamed Lachemi, Toronto Metropolitan University, the City of Toronto, University of Toronto Mississauga, TradeTO, and everyone working to support Canadian businesses and strengthen our economy.
