In Toronto, I was pleased to highlight the increase to the Canada Child Benefit and the continued support it provides to families with the everyday costs of raising children.

Starting this July, eligible families can receive up to $8,157 per child under the age of six and up to $6,883 per child aged six to 17. That is an increase of up to $160 and $135 per child respectively compared with last year, providing families with additional support for everyday expenses like groceries, clothing, school supplies, and child care.

Across Ontario, more than 1.4 million families benefit from the Canada Child Benefit each year. As a mother, I know how quickly the everyday costs of raising a family can add up. Support like the Canada Child Benefit puts more money directly into the hands of parents and helps provide greater stability as they care for their children.

Supporting families means making sure parents have the resources they need to give their children the best possible start. I am proud that our government continues to invest in families and make life more affordable for Canadians.
