It was a privilege to announce a historic $77.5 million investment supporting nearly 400 organizations across Canada - the largest funding initiative in the history of Women and Gender Equality Canada. 

Delivered at the Magna Skilled Trades Centre at Sheridan College in Brampton, the announcement highlighted our government's continued commitment to building a more equal, inclusive and safer Canada for everyone. These investments, supported through Budget 2025, will help organizations create meaningful change in communities across the country. 

This funding includes $44.4 million for 218 organizations working to advance women’s equality and strengthen participation in economic, social, and democratic life; $23.2 million for 112 organizations focused on preventing and addressing gender-based violence and supporting survivors, including Indigenous-led initiatives, and $9.9 million for 65 organizations supporting 2SLGBTQI+ communities and promoting safety and inclusion. 

This announcement was an opportunity to recognize the importance of economic independence and expanding opportunities for women entering skilled trades and other growing industries. Empowering women and underrepresented communities means ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to succeed, purpose their goals, and contribute fully to Canada’s future.
