It was an honour to join colleagues, community leaders, advocates, and Canadians from across the county for the 10th annual Pride flag raising on Parliament Hill, marking the beginning of Pride Season in Canada.

Pride is a time to celebrate the strength, diversity, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities while reflecting on the progress that has been made, and the work that continues to ensure everyone can live safely, authentically, and with dignity. Raising the Pride flag is a powerful reminder that Canada is strongest when everyone feels seen, valued, and included.

As Minister of Women and Gender Equality, I am proud to stand alongside with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and reaffirm our shared commitment to equality, respect, and human rights. Creating a more inclusive Canada means working together to break down barriers, combat discrimination, and build communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and be themselves.

As we begin Pride Season, I encourage Canadians to celebrate the stories, resilience, and achievements of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities while continuing to foster kindness, understanding, and belonging for all.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Parliament Hill to make this special occasion and to the advocates, organizations, and community members whose work continues to make Canada a more inclusive and welcoming place for future generations.
