In St. John’s, I was proud to announce $700,000 over five years to strengthen crisis hotline services across Newfoundland and Labrador, helping ensure that victims and survivors of gender-based violence can access compassionate and timely support when they need it most.

When someone reaches out for help, they deserve to know that someone will be there to answer. Crisis hotlines can provide an essential connection to safety, information, emotional support, and other services, particularly for people in rural and remote communities where accessing help can be more difficult.

This funding will support the important work of End Sexual Violence Newfoundland and Labrador and the Transition House Association of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is part of our government’s broader $31 million investment over five years to renew support for crisis hotlines across Canada and ensure survivors and their families are not left to face violence alone.
